It’s been 75 years since our founder, Dave Dalquist, returned from WWII to start our company in his basement along with his father, brother and wife Dotty. With only $500 in their pockets, a few good ideas and a desire to create a business of their own, a humble kitchenware company was launched. Since then, Nordic Ware’s manufacturing capabilities, distribution and brand have flourished, assuring the company is well poised for the future. We are committed to remaining family-owned and we are grateful for our customers and hundreds of talented, dedicated employees who’ve made us what we are today. As we celebrate our 75th year in business, we want to pay tribute to Dave and Dotty’s courageous entrepreneurship and to the decades of effort that followed to bring the company to its present success.

Undoubtedly, Nordic Ware’s most famous item is the Bundt® pan, which can be found in over 75 million households around the world. Few realize the name “Bundt” was coined and trademarked by our co-founder, Dave Dalquist, to describe the fluted design of the company’s unique ring cake pan. This original Bundt® pan featured a distinctive hole in the center that allowed cakes to bake evenly, and an elegant symmetry that made cutting and serving easy . Despite a lackluster launch in the early 1950s, the original Bundt® pan rose to fame when it was used to bake a prize-winning cake in a national baking contest, and the rest, as they say, is history. The pan has found its way into the hearts and homes of people world-wide, and Bundt® cakes have become a beloved tradition for countless gatherings and family celebrations. With recipes ranging “from the sublime to the ridiculous” and a myriad delightful collectible designs, Bundt cakes are truly the quintessential American dessert.

While there have certainly been ups and downs aplenty over the past 75 years, cooking and baking have consistently fostered creative expression, togetherness, and joy. It means the world to us that families around the world are still making memories in their kitchens with our products.
